Reviving the Mini Abstracts...A New 8''x8''
I really like painting these little "abstract studies" as I call them and since there were only two left after almost thirty of them, I will be painting more. People seem to really enjoy them and I just sent one to a woman in New Jersey last week. She had printed the image of the painting which spoke to her and carried it around in her purse for some time before finally making the purchase. If you see one that you really love, don't wait around too long or you just might miss it. Someone else may be carrying "your" painting around right now!
Thanks to all who have made my art a success!

"Surreal View" 8''x8'' Acrylic Palette Knife Painting on RayMar Panel
It's always fun to switch from larger canvas work and just paint these little panels. I paint them spontaneously without too much thought and just see where they will go. They are great studies for the big paintings and I really enjoy doing them.

"Rare Earth" Acrylic Palette Knife Painting on Canvas Panel
This panel is a little different because it's the first in a while with no blues or cool tones anywhere. I decided to to try a completely earthy palette. I don't know what I think of it just yet but, maybe it will grow on me. I you like it...or not... please let me know. I'm sure it will go with someone's sofa.

Back in the painting groove! - "Passage II" Palette Knife Abstract on Panel
I'm back into the painting groove after working on the 36x48 painting posted a few days ago. I just finished this one and have two more in progress which will be up in the next couple of days. I really get into these minis and explore new techniques and color combinations which can be used for larger works. The trouble with these being so small is having to use restraint and not overpaint them. I also want to use good balance and arrangement just the same as a large painting. Working small helps me to slow down and focus on each area of the painting. I still use the palette knife in the same loose way, but the strokes are more controlled on the small panels.
Emails with questions or comments are welcomed.

"Heat Exchange" Abstract Acrylic Palette Knife Painting
I am trying to get back in my painting groove with my 8x8 series after holidays and family things. We've also been trying to finish some construction projects here and that has taken some of my extra time. Maybe the "almost daily" series should be almost weekly instead right now! Between running a graphic design business, Facebook, two blogs and a website to keep up, I'm lucky to find time to paint.

"Rain Street" 8''x8'' Acrylic Abstract Daily Painting
This painting is inspired by photographer and artist Brad Rickerby's shots of city scenes at night. One photo on his site is of a street in China at night with the lights reflecting in the wet pavement. His photo is titled Nanjong Road Rain and has a blurred effect giving an abstract feel that I really liked.
