Do The Charleston!

Well, the new year is starting to roll with new energy and opportunities. I'm very happy to announce my new representation in historic Charleston, SC with Ellis-Nicholson Gallery on Broad Street. The cheerful owners, Jeannette and Vicki, both talented artists as well, have lots of enthusiasm and a beautiful gallery space on gallery row. I look forward to working with them and I hope I can visit Charleston soon. Visit their site at www.ellis-nicholsongallery.com and look them up on Facebook here.

This painting pictured below is the first to arrive this week and is a 12''x12''x2'' Mixed Media Panel called "Remnants".

Mixing The Media!

"Penny For Your Thoughts"

I am doing more and more of these mixed media pieces with old papers and found objects and they have really been getting attention from collectors. If you are looking for a gift for an art lover or even for you, these small works really give a lot of art bang for the buck. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy creating them!

Do you know the way to Santa Fe?

I always enjoy making the trip to beautiful Santa Fe, NM. Once you experience the wide open vistas with blue skies, mountain ranges, and the unique adobe structures, you just can't shake this place from your memory. Not to mention the arts and culture which permeate every crevice of the place. Creativity is thick in the air with hundreds of art galleries and studios.

I was able to go out on October 20 to paint in front of InArt Gallery for the 5th annual Canyon Road Paint Out. Over 100 artists worked on projects among the galleries on Canyon Road. The Fall weather could not have been more perfect that weekend. It was relaxing and magical, painting outside and visiting with artists and art lovers all weekend. It makes you want to just pause time and stay in that happy zone.

Evenings were spent with with great friends and enjoying the food and sights around the historic Plaza. Food, drinks and people watching on the portico at the Hotel St. Francis, outdoor dining at La Casa Sena, and trying out a different breakfast place each morning. I even managed to bump into actor/director Wes Studi twice while hopping around town. You never know who you will run into there.

The chill will be coming in now and then the Winter, so I will return to the studio with inspiration and a new vigor from the Land of Enchantment, and plan for another trip soon. I know the way to Santa Fe and I think my vehicle is set to hone in by itself!

New work!

"Ancient Winds" 18''x18''x2.5''

I'm a bit behind on news here, but for today, here is a new piece from the studio over the weekend.
I am leaning a bit to minimal works that also use texture as a part of the composition. Deciding where to stop on pieces like this is the difficult part. I think this one turned out nice.

My solo show in Santa Fe this past month was great and several pieces found homes thanks to InArt Gallery. I'm about ready for a return trip. It's just a great place for an artist to spend time and soak up the creative environment.

If you are not already following me on Facebook, then why not? I post new works and news regularly there, so jump in and interact with us.

Going Solo!

I hope you had a great July 4th!
I'm busy working and excited for my upcoming solo exhibition at InArt Gallery in Santa Fe. This is my first show in the famous art city and I will have about 20 new pieces from July 27 - August 31, with an opening reception Friday July 27, 5-8pm.

I have not been to Santa Fe in over a year and I'm really ready to get back there where the skies are so blue and the air is fresh. I have several artist friends there and one cannot visit without being inspired by all of the art in over 200 galleries. I hope you can make it to my show if you are in the area. Better yet, just make plans to get there! It will be a great weekend with many other openings and the Spanish Market that week.

Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts!

It is already gearing up to be a great year for art! My recent "live paint" at Lovetts Gallery in Tulsa, OK was a huge success and I am happy to say many pieces went home with collectors that week. Sales in Santa Fe are already picking up as well.

I have been super busy painting for next week's big art event of the year in OKC, the Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts downtown April 24-29. It took me three years of applications to get juried into this show where 144 artists from all over the US and Canada are picked from over 500 applicants. I'm glad I made the cut! This show is one hour away from home and has a great backdrop of the OKC skyline with the new Devon Energy Tower almost complete.

So, come out and see me in booth 24C on the West side a little North of the center. Show opens Tuesday, April 24 at 11am. Hours 11am-9pm all week except Sunday, which will be 11am-6pm.

Another Weatherford, OK artist, Oil painter Cynde Roof will be next door in 26C and my friend Thomas Stotts, OKC acrylic landscapes in 28D. The Oklahoma posse!

See you there!

East Bound!

Barsky Gallery - Hoboken, NJ

I'm very excited about my newest gallery representation on the East Coast! This great new gallery is located in the city that was the birthplace of Frank Sinatra and baseball, Hoboken, New Jersey.
Oh, and also home of The Cake Boss! Maybe I can sell him some art? Barsky Gallery is located at 49 Harrison Street in a renovated warehouse and features local, national, and international artists in a variety of styles and media. Hoboken is just a stone's throw across the Hudson from Manhattan, so I am pleased to be near one of the largest art markets in the world. I just received a fresh load of new canvas today and will be hitting it hard in preparation for this gallery and my other three, as well as the upcoming arts festival in Oklahoma.
