"Live Paint" at Lovetts Gallery- New Works

©2012 Mark Yearwood
"Capriole" (a playful leap)
12''x12'' Acrylic/Graphite
SOLD!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 25th if your are anywhere near Tulsa, OK and come out to watch me paint "live" at Lovetts Gallery from 10am - 5pm. It should be a fun and interesting day as I attempt to do this live painting thing for the first time! Hopefully the weather is great and this all can happen without a hitch. Oklahoma can be unpredictable in late winter.

I will also be bringing some new works with me, including a couple more of these 12x12'' pieces which stay in a constant state of "sold out" at Lovetts. This one called Capriole, means "a playful leap" and was one of the most spontaneous of this series. It also sold the quickest of all 12's as I painted it on Dec. 25 and it found a home January 11.

I look forward to smearing paint and meeting friends at Lovetts.
Don't miss it!

Mozart Myths Revisited...

©2011 Mark Yearwood

"Mozart: Misfit and Genius", 42''x58''x2.25''

Mixed media assemblage on board

Several weeks ago I was approached by Lovetts Gallery in Tulsa, OK to join with nine other artists to create large-scale musical themed pieces for the OK Mozart Festival Patron Dinner in Bartlesville, OK June 18. After much thought and lack of sleep, I decided to really step out of the box and this is the result of over a month of research, gathering pieces, and applying paint! You can follow the progress and read my narrative on Lovetts blog and also learn about the other great artists involved. It has been an honor to work on this piece and a fun journey. Maybe I will do a series of these! OK Mozart Art blog

Expanding My Horizons to Tulsa Town

Lovetts owner Jack Summers, (L) and myself

I'm happy to announce my newest gallery representation with Lovetts Gallery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. www.LovettsGallery.com

Jack Summers and son Waylon are second and third generation owners in this fine gallery established in 1978. Their new location is at 6528 E. 51st in the "The Farm" shopping district and centrally located in Tulsa. They feature a group of amazing artists from Oklahoma and all over the US. I feel humbled to be in the gallery with artists such as Jeff Ham, Todd Ford and Santa Fe sculptor Kevin Box, to name a few. Tulsa's art heritage runs deep and is known for the Philbrook Museum of Art and the Gilcrease Museum.
